Packing Tips to Save You Time and Money

Moving house can be a hit to the hip pocket, no doubt. Between double rent, utility connection fees, and hiring a removals service, it can add up fast. But with a bit of planning and packing smart, you can keep those costs down and make the move a breeze. Here are some tips to help you get there:

  • Start with the Big Stuff: Removalists usually pack the truck starting with the largest items. Make sure your hallways are clear so we can easily get to your beds, couches, and other big pieces.

  • Stack Boxes Neatly: Keep your boxes neatly stacked and avoid overfilling them. Overpacked boxes might need extra hands to move or could fall apart, putting your stuff at risk and eating up precious time.

  • Leave Clothes in Drawers: You can leave your clothes in your tallboy or chest of drawers. We might take the drawers out to move them, but don’t worry, they’ll go back in when it’s all set up at your new place.

  • Get Friends to Help: Don’t be shy about calling in some help! Many hands make light work, and we’re always happy for a bit of extra assistance to speed things up.

  • Move on a Weekday: Weekdays are cheaper, and you’ve got more flexibility with timing. If you can get a day off midweek, it’ll save you some cash and stress.

  • Dismantle What You Can: If your bed or flatpack furniture (like IKEA) comes apart, disassemble it ahead of time. It saves us time and keeps the move running smoothly.

  • Leave the Big Stuff to Us: For a real money-saver, ask us to handle just the bigger items, and move smaller things in your own car. That way, we get the heavy lifting done while you save on time and cost.

  • Bag or Box Small Items: Make sure all the little things are boxed or bagged so they’re easy to carry. A little extra effort beforehand will drastically cut moving time.

If you manage to do all of the above, you’ll be looking at a smooth, affordable, and stress-free move!
